The pre-production Altroz EV was first showcased at Auto Expo 2020 and has been spotted in testing multiple times through 2024–25. Based on these, the following design details are confirmed or highly likely:

• Closed front grille — no air intake needed for electric motor; gives a cleaner, more modern face than the ICE Altroz
• Blue accents on the front fascia, grille area, and badging — consistent with Tata's EV design language

Should You Wait for the Tata Altroz EV?

Wait for the Altroz EV if you specifically want a premium electric hatchback body — not a micro-SUV. The Altroz has the best interior in the hatchback segment, a 5-star BNCAP foundation, and a longer wheelbase than the Tiago EV. If cabin quality, seating comfort, and a longer body with more passenger space matter to you — and you want all of this in an EV — there is currently nothing in India that delivers exactly this package.

Do not wait for the Altroz EV if you need a car before mid-2026, or if ground clearance is important to your driving conditions. If you regularly navigate bad roads, high speed breakers, or live in a city with flooding risk, the Punch EV's 195mm clearance is a meaningful real-world advantage over the Altroz's expected 145–165mm. At similar pricing, the Punch EV Adventure (40 kWh) at ₹11.49 lakh is a fully available, tested product with DC fast charging and higher ground clearance right now.

Also consider that the Altroz EV is launching into a market where the Punch EV and Nexon EV are well-established with owner communities, service records, and real-world range data already documented. The Altroz EV will be a first-generation product on this platform — a situation that benefits from waiting 6–12 months after launch before buying, to let early-adopter feedback accumulate.
